Illusion Mandalas
The patterns for Illusion Mandalas are the creation of Lilla Bjorn. The beauty of these pieces is that they can be worked with almost any fibre (and the appropriate hook size) and in a combination of four colours.
In the gallery below, you will see what I have done with worsted weight acrylic yarn. I have created two mandalas from each colour combination - simply changing the order in which the colours are worked.
My goal for these unique pieces was something that could be mounted directly to the wall without any hanging 'hardware' - adding to the illusion that they are floating.
Each mandala measures approximately 21" across, has a foamcore centre to retain the circular shape, a casing on the reverse side to slip over the foamcore and a generous amount of command tape to allow the piece to be mounted to the wall yet removed without damaging the surface.
